COURSE OVERVIEW
This course allows students to build a sound base of conceptual and technical skills, then develop a deep understanding of the design process. This commercially-driven curriculum prepares our students for the intensely competitive professional world of communication design, branding, advertising and art-direction. Students will learn how to create creative, effective and powerful design across a range of media, from paper to mobile phones, using the latest industry-standard software.
Traditional techniques such as drawing and printmaking are covered at the start of the course before students are taught about the basics of typography, visual theory and design history. The middle stage of the course lets students explore specialisms within visual communication such as corporate identity, packaging, advertising and brochure design. Then major practical projects let students hone their multi-disciplinary skills through independent study.
